ENDORSEMENT

ENDORSEMENT

Postby gafj on Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:11 pm

John and Sonia called at my place last year in their very nice 40 and he left me some Croftgate Sheen on Shine.
I can honestly say it is the best polish I have ever used.
Better than Auto Glym and IMHO better than Meguiars Gold Class.

I used, after paying a fortune to get it here from the UK, Autoglym resin, but I was not impressed, so now maybe I need to change as well. I had previously looked in internet and there was only ONE dealer here in this area of Spain who stocked Autoglym, maybe now I know why ??

i prefer auto glym to meguiars, i think they spend their money on whats in the bottle and not on the bottle like meguiars do, nice simple white bottle says we spend money on developing good stuff not designing a bottle

Autoglym is a decent product, so maybe it doesn't like being applied when it is hot? I have found to easy to apply and remove and with all the fillers it contains, to be very forgiving.
I haven't used Meguire's from a bottle, only the carnauba wax in a tin and found it to give a slightly better result than the Autoglym - but these things are subjective and down to taste. I find a carnauba wax gives a greater depth to the paint, probably because it is slightly less shiny thus less reflective.

The Croftgate product is synthetic wax I believe, and I suspect it will give a very "hard" shine to the paint, rather than the "soft" glow from the carnauba which I like so much on my diamond blue car. It could look fabulous on a dark coloured car though; it does on j-r's amazing 4.0S.

I'm not knowledgeable on 'detailing'. I just thought I liked washing the car and only recently dicovered there is a word for it and a whole world out there!

John says Croftgate Sheen on Shine uses montan wax, this is fossilised wax extracted from coal.

i`m a big autoglym fan myself, but do mainly use the paint renovator. its superb for light scratches and getting deep down dirt out the paint. for waxing, i`ve always used turtle wax. it goes on easy and comes off even easier.
i brought a tin of that carnauba wax a couple of months ago and was`nt impressed at all. i ending up giving it my m8 whos car is black. it works better on his. it was`nt cheap either, around £17 :(

i have the meguiars carnuba wax and im not impressed at that either, same with the stage 2 (wax is the stage 3) dont remember the name of the stage 2 i have (its meguiars though) for a half decent wax coating you need to go over the car 3 - 4 times and it was a pain to get off too

i now use autoglym hd wax and its easy to put on and take off, well worth £40 (if you pay £40, its cheaper elsewere ;) )

I have seen AutoGlym HD wax, but I'm far too tight to spend £40 on a wax!! I'm sure it is excellent though. When I was writing about AutoGlym, I only meant SRP!!

Up until now I have been using Poorboys Canauba wax on Sovereign and have been pleased with the results. But today when I put her back into the newly painted garage, after standing outside all day in the blazing sun, I noticed that she had a greasy / oily coating all over that I couldn't buff off (will need a shampoo) Could this be the Canauba reacting to the heat ?? We have really been getting temps in the high 30's and sometimes in the 40's and she is not normally in the sun, but today was an exception.
