My '90 XJR looked superficially quite a lot less rusty than that and I broke it for parts. It would have needed quite major welding repairs done on the inner and outer sills, A pillars, floors, jacking points, inner wings, etc. (If it were me I'd be tempted to put that gearbox in a less flakey shell, but then prefer to play oily bits than do bodywork.)

Good luck, I hope you get it sorted and on the road, it could be a very nice car when restored, that manual box will make it a good drive, plus rare and interesting.

james08 wrote:i bought it because of the manual being attatched to the 4.0, always wanted a manual and a 4.0, i like playing with both bodywork and oily bits, im currently learning to do body repairs and spraying so this is a good project for me

Great stuff, make sure you post some interesting pictures of your work for us. :)

Please explain why these are 4.0 manuals are so special?
Is it because they are rare? Is it because they ar so fast?
I'm interested in one fs here in Holland, so....

OK, so it has nothing to do with specification, other than being manuals?

Correct , though why anyone would want to constantly change gear in the sort of traffic we get these days beats me , besides changing ones own cogs in a Daimler just isn't British 8-)
