There's still one more buyer out there who wants a series 2 enought to go to 7k it seems. Meanwhile I go back to my search for a mint black or red series 1 4.0A ;)

I am interested to read this. I think it is the sign that the XJ40 has now finally achieved classic status. When this happens, the value of the very best cars (top condition and only the most desirable models) breaks away from the rest, with the best cars becoming much more expensive - many times more - than less desirable versions of the same car.

hmm, interesting. theres a member on here who was "considering" selling his 1990 XJR in black. apparently he's spend a packet on it.
surely the 3.6 XJR is considered the "series 1" though?

The earlier Series one XJRs came with a 3.6 litre engine, but this was replaced by the 4 litre at the same time as the other XJ40s - but the Series 2 bodykit style arrived a little later.
