Re: Time to go

I'm back! It was infuriating. I posted this thread and 30 seconds later the forum decided I was no longer a valid member  JR fixed it so here I am  This accident did happen in mid March but it's taken until now to find the time and the resolution to make this decision. The work I did...

Time to go

It is with great sadness that I must ask one of you to take Jaggles away  Following her unplanned journey through a hedge and into a field I am unable to find the time and energy to get her back on the road. Those of you who are familiar with this car will know that, apart from the thing with t...

Re: LED bulb for front fog lights

Always be aware that the power rating of the resistor you are going to use is adequate. With a typical 13.8V supply going to the fogs with the engine running, power dissipated in any resistor pretending to be a foglamp will be Vsquared divided by R which equals 190.44 divided by the resistor value. ...

I couldn't resist posting this pic from a friend. This is a petrol station in Cambodia . Yes, those really are rows of Johnny Walker whisky bottles full of petrol!!!! :o We might just sell him out if we pulled up in any one of our beasts  http://www.diplomat.co.uk/downloads/images/cambodian...

Re: Our old friend, the headliner

I fitted a replacement Myrtle headliner to my Sovereign in May 2013 and the bloody material has sagged away from the backing board. I am angry as it is no mean feat to get the bloody thing in there plus £200 up your bum just to see a brand new headliner sag in less than 1/10th of the time it took th...

Re: Fuel filler neck

Also be aware that the filter thingy does come out for cleaning. Gently pulling up on it with a pair of long-nose pliers whilst giving it a wiggle will remove it for brushing out and rinsing under the tap. I often use a jug of water and sluice through the drain pipe. By carefully pouring in water ar...

Re: Is a '40 your daily drive?

Oh yes, I'm proud to use my 1994 Sovereign as a daily driver. I commute to work 12 miles per day along country lanes that are less than smooth and the XJ40 irons all those bumps out. With the sunroof open on the good days that allow it, there really is only one way to arrive for work in the morning....
