Re: Restoring a 92' XJ40 4.0

Nice work, we need a few more brave souls to take on cars like these, the ‘40 is becoming as rare as hens teeth!

Good luck and I’m sure if you need anything (parts or advice) then the nice folks on this forum will help you out!

Great looking car you have there, they always look good in the darker shades and I think no front number (license) plate really keeps the front end looking clean and unfussy

Welcome to the forum, I look forward to reading more your car

Re: Coronavirus

I agree there should be MOT’s. There’s lots of people on the road that will not spend a single penny on their cars unless they have to. Tyres I think are the big one. the relatively high costs of new rubber at all four corners means that even they didn’t have to, some would drive until they were on...

Thanks Paul. :o After today’s news it looks like it will not be happening anyway :( If it all goes to Hell Don, we should just arrange our own little thing one day, invite the cars we know will attend, and just make a day of something. I'll come down from Edinburgh for the day. Well the situation i...

Re: XJ40s in Germany

Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to make this one. I’ve spent ages reviewing the route, ferry crossings, driving times etc... It’s just too far for me I’m afraid, mainly due to the time restrictions each side with mine and the wife’s work. I’d love to do it one year though! Perhaps next year ...

Re: Potential for exploding?

upon turning the key I get the normal display lights all on and then off and as I turn key all I’m getting is electrical clicking Mine will do this after a long period of non-use. The cause of my fault is the gear selector inhibitor switch. Try turning your ignition on but not starting the car, pre...

Re: Tramlining - causes & remedy

Yep tyres and tracking followed by V mounts and a whole raft of bushes. Personal tips, Falken tyres and GENUINE Jaguar V mounts, I have tried pattern ones and it was not a pleasant experience. I’m a second for v mounts, mine was terrible when they went, genuine items fitted around five years ago, s...

Re: Sentinel Jaguar

Going back a few years, there were a couple of ex gov cars doing the rounds on eBay and the like.

If I remember correctly, they were armour plated.

Someone like Paul May know more as the cars will likely be on the register.
