Re: Leaking coolant reservoir cap

If the thermostats check out OK, you could look at the radiator temperature sensor that operates the cooling fans. Possibly its lost some sensitivity over the years. Mine had the opposite problem and turned the fans on constantly.

Re: Newhaven East Sussex 9th August

Ah, well there is a story there. They belong to two brothers (not Anton) who were starting up a wedding car hire business. In fact they have 3 white xj40s. Covid has put the brakes on that for a while.

Re: Newhaven East Sussex 9th August

A varied mix of XJs at today's gathering. X300, X308, X300 XJR, Daimler xj40 and a 3.2 XJ40 Sovereign. Good to get out and meet up with some fellow enthusiasts and enjoy a bacon buttie at last. A good run out in the xj12 through the Sussex countryside. No overheating and cool Aircon working well tha...

Well observed Larry.

Makes life easier when washing the car. Dont have to be so careful not to break them annoyingly fragile things.

Re: New member - hopefully.

Not sure whether I'd be comforted to know Mercedes still offer software updates for 8 year old cars or worried that they don't test the update before releasing it to the dealerships. I must ring jaguar to complain my ecu is 27 years behind with its software updates.

Re: Solent Blue XJ12 L527KWC

I have to confess that the replacement blade wasn't much better underneath, it just hadn't quite erupted through the chrome. I cleaned it up almost as you described although I used kurust and hammerite with a final coat of waxoyl. I haven't thrown the old one away, I might need to restore it one day...

Re: Solent Blue XJ12 L527KWC

I used aerosol clear over base to blow in the treated areas. Seems to match quite well but no doubt the brown bubbles will inevitably reappear. 20200804_201416.jpg Shame about the front bumper blade, Just one tiny bubble on the chrome but it was a mess underneath. 20200723_192557.jpg Quite like the ...

Re: Newhaven East Sussex 9th August

Its a public car park with snack bar on the seafront so pretty informal. 9 confirmed so far according to the fb page. A 9 am start to ensure spaces are available so not ideal unless you live in the area or are really determined to go somewhere in your jag this summer.

Re: Project

How old is the main building? Looking at the end gable it looks like its constructed from stone, but the other end looks to be of brick. Looks like an ambitious project but with enough space and scope you can complete it to suit yourselves. Look forward to seeing the end result.
