Re: Selling my XJR 4.0A if anyone is interested?

you can always keep original bracket with a spare CPS in the boot, just to be safe Only if there's room once I've packed the spare ignition coil, alternator, drive belt water pump, engine ecu, coolant, oil, distributor cap and rotor arm and a spare set of plugs, overalls and comprehensive tool kit!

Re: Selling my XJR 4.0A if anyone is interested?

“Andy bracket” timing bracket fitted.

Did the Andy bracket make much difference ?

Have thought about it for my XJR but a bit nervous about something that advances the ignition that much, especially on a car that gets a lot of use.

Re: Solent Blue XJ12 L527KWC

I always keep it taxed over winter and try to use it occasionally. The gremlins creep in if they are locked away for months. . Might even use it for a run up to the NEC 10th November!

Re: Dead in Battle

After a bit of a faff with a flat battery and the boot being locked with my jump leads inside I managed to replace the cps with a new one from Moss Europe, but still no start. So checked for spark when turning over on the starter- visibly OK from the spark plug resting on the engine, compression OK ...

Re: Dead in Battle

What a charming picture.

I wonder what spares he managed to fit in that sidecar?

And how did you summon him if you were in need of assistance ?

Re: Dead in Battle

The car comes with a spare wheel so no choice about that, which I've used once in 20 years. So arguably not a great necessity. I think a lot of modern cars don't bother. I didn't have one in the range rover after it's lpg conversion. When I was using the mg more regularly I took a spare rotor arm, b...

Re: Dead in Battle

If I was taking the car over the channel I would pack spares and tools. But for my daily pootling around the south east I'm happy to rely on a working mobile phone and Footman James recovery service. So far the car has been very reliable, but If that changed I would stop using it as a daily driver r...
