Re: VEE MOUNT CHANGE (HOW TO)

Well done for completing the job and a good write up.

Play in the steering rack and worn rear subframe mounts could all contribute to tramlining.
Have you examined those other two areas yet?

Yeah, any decent hydraulics shop should be able to make a replacement for you...

Indeed. A brand new custom hose I would think is the way to go. It’s good news I would suggest. Rebuilding the pump would be a bigger headache.

Re: New project

It’s seems you have all the right ingredients to hand to complete the job. A full equipped workshop being key of course.
The venture should be a sound financial undertaking too, with the ever increasing values of E-Types. Better than money in the bank by a long stretch I would think.

Re: XJ40 Turbodiesel

I don't think this car is any worse than most now. Its just you have gone head first hunting out al the issues. To think there are some on here who who think bulkhead issues are only for the battery in boot models. Not so. Though your bulkhead is better than many, despite. the under wing area looks ...

Similar but different. But the x300 are Ford push fit design.
The 40 has 2 big o-rings and a wire clip to secure the joins.

Re: eBay motor bin.

It’s inevitable with ebay really.
It’s just another needy old car waiting to be rescued or binned. They will not all survive as we know.

Re: Fuel Pump removal XJ81 or late models 93/94

This is one option I suppose. Personally I still prefer the original method of tank removal. It can be tricky but once you have done it a few times, it’s second nature like anything,

Re: New project

Wow. That really is a big brave pill swallowed. Why is it when people dismantle a car, that they know they do not have to put back to together, that there will almost certainly be parts missing and damaged? Still I am sure you can handle it. Can you get spares for these down under?

Welcome aboard. Six years is a long time to get a signed up.
I can’t imagine there’s more than a handful of Manual Golds around. There is one other on here though.
