Re: Kingfisher XJ81 Resurrection

harpersmuse, really fantastic work on the car. I can't imagine the patience some of that took. I've seen your posts on jaguarforums also. Aren't you in Georgia? There's a guy selling a set of refurbished 16x8 lattice wheels locally here if you're looking. I bought a set of Penta wheels from him.

Int. questions: warped door trims and rear air vent

I've had the wood door trims out of my for a while, getting refinished. They have bowed a bit, so they sit proud of the upper door panel after reinstalling. Looking for any ideas on straightening them without damaging the finish. Most of the online tips would not work - Such as soaking the wood in w...

Re: Knackered Rear Shocks

Yes, the mounting plate. I don't have any welding equipment myself, but have a couple of nearby shops who could probably do it cheap.

https://rs.rvdz.me/xj40/images/59829/59829___5a592e367f0e4.jpg So while we're on the subject, what's the consensus on using an aftermarket top spring mounting if it needs replacing? OEM seems to run well over $200. A few places have a replacement for $80. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/jaguar-sho...

Re: 1994 Daimler Double Six

My car is chassis 676860 - so that makes it a 1993.25MY car then. If the 1993.25MY cars were introduced in December 1992 - mine must have been manufactured in early 1993(ish). I wonder what happened to it for a year then? Perhaps I should get a heritage certificate - just to nail to build date down...

Re: eBay motor bin.

A nice 88 VDP. Perhaps overpriced. I hope it's a typo. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-Jaguar-XJ-Vanden-Plas/283328556296?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D26e2b444837b472a89a9b33317dcac14%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D283328556296%26itm%3D28...

Re: Trim Colour Code.

The front of the XJ40 service manual has similar charts and a breakdown of the color and trim codes like the ones for the XJS and X308, including the specific colors for things like headliner, carpet color, fascia, seat belts, etc. I have PDF copies saved if there's a way to upload a pdf here. Or pm...

Re: XJ40 in new TV ad!

Watching TV and caught a very quick glimpse of what appears to be a 40 in a new Tia Maria advert! https://xj40.rvdz.me/images/60688/60688___5bf32933a6169.jpg They must think all XJ40 owners are Tia Mari drinkers? What does that say about us? You would think we are more half a mild bitter please lan...

Re: 6.0 V12 engine number

My XJ12 has a build date of March 1993 and last 6 of the VIN begins 682xxx so yours may be a March or April build date. There is some info here on VIN and engine numbers but since your engine came from a Daimler it may not match up. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/attachments/general-tech-help-7/...
