You need to loosen the tensioner bolts, so you can move the alternator on its bracket, same threaded rod and bolts are used to tighten the belt after replacement. NB: do not overtighten, water pump and alternator bearings don't like that at all! ;) Tensioner bolts & rod seen from the top here: h...

Only bare metal on the upper surfaces? Yes, 'only' roof, bonnet, boot lid, buttresses, front and rear wings, etc will be reduced to bare metal before they even consider applying primer.
