Re: XJ81 Air conditioning condenser

Just to add an update. I can confirm that an X300 condenser will fit and with a bit of rerouting, the top hose from the compressor will connect, despite the X300 top pipe exiting at 90 deg compared to the XJ81 one. Further details on page 12 of Lady Penelope's Blog. https://www.xj40.com/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Living with Lady Penelope in the Wild Wild West

Well I've finally sorted the Air Con out and can confirm that an X300 Condenser does indeed fit. Original ones for the XJ81 are rarer than rocking horse poo, ditto good quality second hand items and custom builders here in Perth. X300 V12 condenser part Number is MNA7390BA and its still available fr...

Re: Living with Lady Penelope in the Wild Wild West

Well we've just passed 4 years of ownership and another 2,500km travelled, so just shy of 126,000km. Only event of note was taking Lady P to a local Jaguar track day at Barbagello raceway. I had my learner wheels firmly applied and elected to run with the slow group, mainly comprising MG's. Not surp...

Re: Fitting an armrest with cupholder

Interesting....

I had no problems fitting one to Lady P a few years back. It was a snug fit but no alignment issues. I did have to use a dob of loc tite on the supporting arm screw to stop it undoing though.

Cheers

Re: Pairing RF remote - requirments

I’m sure a jaguar specialist or auto electrician would have some way of checking, but all I can think of is swapping the secruity ecu with a known good unit and seeing what happens.

Re: Pairing RF remote - requirments

Hi Steve, You mentioned the antenna on the back of the window? Is it possible to visually confirm this antenna is present? What does it look like? Is it easy to get to the security module? My thinking is that if the security module isn't present or operative the car won't even go into learning mode...

Re: Pairing RF remote - requirments

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply. As it is, I have 3 remotes. 2 older ones which came from a Swiss Daimler, 1 new one which I bought off ebay. They are all similar (the circuitboard and mentioned frequency range on them are similar). I haven't checked whether the remote is actually emitting a signal...

Re: Pairing RF remote - requirments

Just a thought, but is the remote working? If you have a second remote that is paired to the car try pairing that again.

Try changing the battery. If that doesn't work an auto locksmith should be able to check that it’s emitting a signal.

Cheers

Re: Living with Lady Penelope in the Wild Wild West

Seeing Dstary’s recent post of starting woe reminds me it’s time for a brief update. In December we had yet again another reappearance of the cooling fans not kicking in at low speed. I again fitted a new new relay which didn't fix the issue. By now I had a good collection of relays (2 new, the orig...

Re: XJ81 starting issue

Hi Dave Nice to hear from you despite the starting problem. It’s an unfortunate fact of life when you own classic cars that these "character building" issues will appear from time to time. I see Starbuck has posted with her usual well considered expert advice, so you are in good hands and ...
