Re: Asymmetric steering/suspension

Ok, I understand. That's quite a bit different than on the fourty.

Re: Asymmetric steering/suspension

It's the very first hit when I enter the Bulletin name on google: http://www.jagrepair.com/images/TSB/TSB2/XJS_XJ40/60Front%20Suspension/60-7%20Steering%20Pull%20–%20Correction%20Procedure.pdf On my XJ-S (and thereby also all Series XJ's) it's simply done by shimming the top wishbone. Eas...

Re: Asymmetric steering/suspension

In the meantime I found a service bulletin where is described how front castor and camber can be adjusted on the fourty ("Steering Pull – Correction Procedure 60-7"). Castor is, like I already knew, adjusted by putting shims between upper wishbone and upper balljoint. The castor shims on m...

Re: Negative rear camber

I guess the hardest part would be to remove the bearing/races from the hub carrier. With the right service tools this should not require to weld, but I guess due to the small diameter standard removal tools will very likely not fit. Let's see, if the fulcrum pivot pin can be turned easily without si...

Re: VEE MOUNT CHANGE (HOW TO)

To complete this topic: the final way to go was to jack up the front on both sides (and undo the other veemount again), only after that the subframe had dropped far enough so I was able to change the left-hand V-mount. I have made a couple of hundred kms since then and I must state, unfortunately, t...

Re: Negative rear camber

How can I see the fulcrum bearings are shot? When then outer pivot pin has play? I remember I had already had a look at it one or two years ago and I could not move it at all, also was not able to remove the pin. I know we already discussed the function of the fulcrum bolt (toe) and how to adjust ca...

Re: Negative rear camber

My XJ12 actually has very similar symptoms, slightly knocking noises from behind, e.g. when backwarding out of my driveway. LH camber and RH camber are different, one is positive, one is negative, though I actually think a slightly negative camber is correct and desired, but a positive not. Ride-hei...

Re: XJ81 Suspension Height

I'm having similar issues on my XJ12, supsension is lower on the left (=driver side) by about 1cm. And it sits a little higher at the rear, which I guess is caused by SLS being removed. On one side even the camber is positive instead of negative. Anyway I had no chance yet to go for a cure. Maybe ne...

Re: Which is the better purchase - 1990 XJ40 or 1994 XJ81?

XJ40 much better than XJ81. Who wants bulkhead rot and foglights which melt when you use them? XJ40 bulkheads also rot (at least from MY 93 on). I had to make a similar decision before I purchased my XJ81 and after I had driven a V12, I did not think much about the I6 any longer. The V12 makes it a...

Re: VEE MOUNT CHANGE (HOW TO)

Started with the other side (driver side) today, the bolts went off comparatively easily, but then I got stuck. Jacked up the car here and there front, rear, both, springpan, tried the crow bar, but nothing helped, whatever height I jack the car up, the subframe won't drop far enough to give the vee...
