Re: Daimler Double Six 93'

Isn't that the hose between inlet manifolds? I thought that it would be under positive pressure not vacuum. I was under the impression that it is to balance the air to each manifold.

Re: What's the better purchase - XJ81 or XJ40 Vanden Plas?

My only experience is of a rather broken XJ81 but even in that state she pulled like a train and was faster than she had any right to be. Other than fuel costs the only other negative is the ever harder challenge of finding parts. Being made in what was relatively small numbers some parts are like h...

Re: Rear Engine Mount / Transmission Mount

Afraid I cannot answer the mount question although I am curious as to the answer. However I suffered with the same issue of the shroud hitting the fan and destroying both. You may have already fixed these issues but looking back at your finished engine bay photos (very impressed with the rebuild by ...

So for my next dumb question is there a message from the VCM computer if there are no faults. The manual doesn't indicated either way. At the moment if I press the button currently the milage display clears but no message.
Thanks

Re: Kingfisher XJ81 Resurrection

Amazing restoration work! That is how mine should go but seems to only be that way in my head at the moment. Did you work from any plan or diagrams for the engine loom? Everytime I touch a wire under the hood the insulation falls away so I think it is time I start looking for a replacement. Are you ...

Re: Bonnet/hood wire question

Doh! That would have saved some time.
I wonder if the lights were originally there and removed when the liner was replaced (assuming it was) as the connectors were duct taped to the hood. Didn't look 'factory'.

Re: Bonnet/hood wire question

To save the next person some time.. the wire is for bonnet lights and you don't need to remove the lining. There is a connector behind the grommet on the bonnet itself.
Shame we didn't find it until stripping everything down and wondering how to feed the wires back through the bracing!

Re: Bonnet/hood wire question

Guess it is time to remove the lining then. I don't want to remove the headlight if possible.
Now if only it would get above freezing for a bit!

Re: Bonnet/hood wire question

I should have said that this wire is just above and to the right of the lefthand headlamp.
Thanks
