AJ6/16 vs AJ26

I have to say after owning two Range Rover Classic 3.9 V8’s, I’m a little scared of any V8 engine. I’m also a relatively new XJ40 owner and have had nothing but great experiences with this and the two XJ-S’s I’ve had in the past and the AJ6 engine in general. I’ve read all about Nikasil bores and a ...

Re: Inertia switch woes

Just received the replacement inertia switch from the ever helpful Naki, who even advised me how to fit it. If only my divorce had been this straightforward! Cheers Naki!

Re: Inertia switch woes

Thanks Trev. I managed to get it going by giving the inertia box a firm tap/soft whack with the head of a spanner. I think perhaps it needs renewing. When I had fully depressed it down before, maybe it didn’t “click” or something? I also plucked up the courage to swap the timing bracket out for the ...

Inertia switch woes

Hi all. This a the 2nd time this has happened in a week, never happened before. The AA guy successfully diagnosed this as the problem. I have located the switch and have depressed it but no joy, page 186 in the owners manual. Starter motor is turning over and over ok. Could it be the switch is knack...

Re: In isolation with my XJ40

Thanks for the “how to” for the Andy bracket, I think the weather will be nice this weekend, I may give it a go. And thanks for the tip about wearing long sleeves!

In isolation with my XJ40

Was a bit sick on the weekend so am having to stay at home for a bit. Lots of time on hands coming up, I spent the best part of today’s sunny afternoon giving my 40 a thorough clean and resin, and got round to clearing out the sunroof drainage tubes, which was satisfying strangely. Also checked and ...

Re: Tramlining - causes & remedy

Thanks for the advice all. So handy to have the “safety net” of those in the know. Yes, the tyres are completely knackered, even cracking, I’ll need to sort that. Does anyone have a handy link to the bushes I may need? I’m gearing up for: bushes, new tyres and wheel alignment. Oh and Helen Stodart i...
