Re: Sill and wheel arch repair

Thanks all @Naki: Great to hear that sill profile can be found. There will be photos when I started, but it is basically 4 x 10 inches of sill + ends, that needs attention, and when I start digging I’m sure I’ll find more. I have already poked a hole in the LH sill end, But it’s the rear ends I fear...

Sill and wheel arch repair

Hi I have found repair panels for wheel arches, but nothing pops up for sill repairs. Please let me know if I have just not found them before I start fabricating my own repair panels for sill ends. And yes, I know. I could just buy another car and scrap this one, but there are too much emotions invo...

Re: Quietness.

How long did it take and do you know what they did as part of the rebuild? They expected to use 4 working days and ended up using 10'ish. They then shipped it express on their expense, so no big delay in the end, but I was eager to get the '40 out and the XJ-S into the garage for front subframe bus...

Re: Quietness.

Nice rack. Are you happy with it? I spoke to Kelly bray about rebuilding my XJR rack which they said they could do but I haven't got round to sending one off to them yet. Yes, it's good. It was leaking enough to make continious green lines at full lock, and now it's tight. It was working well excep...

Re: Quietness.

Back to the topic I think what is happening is what we have been hoping for: XJ40 has become a mature and real classic. The downside to this is that there are less cars left, and many of them are just being used 5 times a year, weather conditions allowing. That does not call for many questions... An...

Re: Aircon clutch fuse blown

On my 3.2 1992 the electric aux fan is on same fuse as the A/C
The fan was seized, and as a result the fuse blew when driving slowly in hot weather. The fan kicks in quite rarely, so it took some time before I found out the relation.
After fitting a new fan the A/C fuse has not not blown again

Re: Lurch and lumpy gear change on 3.2 xj40

How about the rear outer fulcrum bearings ? Mine were badly shot, resulting in slack and noise. The bore for the LH fulcrum bearings in the hub is actually too loose, so I still get a small noise when changing from reverse to forward, but at least my toe-in/toe-out is now staying within reasonable l...

Re: Main Meet 2020

I think you islanders are whining a bit. These cars are excellent long distance cruisers.
We have appr. 1000 km to Dover, so any UK location is a bit of a journey for us.
Could we do it in the Netherlands next year, then we all (except Pim and a few others) have some distance to go... :D
