Re: Also bitten by the XJ-S bug...

Only bare metal on the upper surfaces? Yes, 'only' roof, bonnet, boot lid, buttresses, front and rear wings, etc will be reduced to bare metal before they even consider applying primer. Their experience with cracking clearcoat is that there is only one proper way to get rid of it, and that's drasti...

Re: Also bitten by the XJ-S bug...

The 'adding zeroes' process has started... ;) The XJ-S was collected by the bodyshop owner this weekend, and will be returned in bright & shiny condition early November latest. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48885173431_a11cfb8dfd_n.jpg Driving it up the trailer was good fun: the engine is ...

That's a steal!

Buy them, then sell the steel wheels & tyres and the whole transaction could be completely budget-neutral...

Re: 1996 Daimler Six X300, need some help

Fuel filter on an x300 can be real PITA job, with broken fuel lines, mounts and half suspension removed for better access! I must have been lucky replacing it on my X300 then... Or maybe this is a case of changing standards? Only a few years ago replacing spark plugs was as far as I dared to go, no...

Re: 1996 Daimler Six X300, need some help

Coolant temp sensor COULD cause rough running/stalling. With the car's history of multi-year hibernation, do you know whether it got a new fuel filter when it was put back on the road? If not: change the filter, it's a cheap part and a fairly easy job. It may have been ages ago since it was last rep...

Re: the latest addi(c)tion: Peppermint Green Insignia

Excellent cover Pim, is it just an indoor one? Thanks! Yes, indoor use, guess that's why it fits so snugly... ;) It's under an XXL carport, once used to store farm equipment. The roof is so deep that rain water does not get to the cars, even in the worst weather conditions. (and if things do get wo...

Re: Lower steering column

That would actually would point to the V-mounts Good shout, Guido! Delaminating veemounts should be easy to diagnose with the front of the car jacked up. Fully agree with your part sourcing recommendation: I've also had non-original veemounts and front suspension bushes fail on me, well below 10K k...
