Re: New member - hopefully.

That is very true. I think that's been the case with this Sovereign. The old couple don't know a thing about cars and the garage have taken them for a bit of a ride. I have been asking around the Jaguar folk down near Hastings today - and mooting the issues the Sovereign has. The general consensus i...

Re: New member - hopefully.

At first glance i thought you must be on to a winner here , one owners for 22 years :o , she must be perfect but the more i read the more i was taken aback , this car has not been owned by an enthusiast at all i would say , more likely someone who just takes the car in for a service , a garage won'...

Re: New member - hopefully.

It does look a good example, lovely to have that 20 years ownership... The rear clonk will definitely be shocks and bushes... Good news on the bulkhead... Not so good about the wing but there are still some about... Flamenco is a popular colour :D Rory Well, the good news on the wing is that I have...

Re: New member - hopefully.

The transmission issues and brake issues would be more my focus rather than sorting out pinstripes at the moment. £2k is really daft for one with that many problems - look at some more. Jacking points can get mashed driving up and down kerbs with fat people in the car. Have the knackered rear suspe...

Re: New member - hopefully.

Well I have gone and viewed my first XJ40 today. This is going to be a bit of a report I'm afraid - time for a cup of tea! The background : - Its a 1993 4.0 Sovereign, in Flamenco Red with Cream Leather. 62k miles on the clock and has been with the current owner since 1994. Full Service History and ...

Re: New member - hopefully.

Welcome! I hope you find a car that suits. Forties don't seem to wear out, just rust :D Rory Yep, they surely do. I think I'm going to aim for the best one I can find - and then wayoyl as much as possible. Is there anything at all that can be done to stop the bulkhead from rusting - or is that simp...

Re: New member - hopefully.

Welcome aboard Richard.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iDl2zwF8TM Anyone with a ZT260 is a sound guy in my book (read Petrolhead!). I had a ZT190 from new, fabulous car, similar in ethos to my old Cossie but as I described it then, I never could find the alleged 190bhp - it was somewhat like m...

New member - hopefully.

Hello all, I'm new here - so just introducing myself. I am looking to hopefully join the XJ40 ranks before too long. I am off to view a car this weekend - a rather nice 93 4.0 Sovereign. I have been scouring the forum for buyers tips and bought a neat little buyers guide by Peter Crespin. I think I'...
