Re: Alarm,immobiliser key fob ??

And a transmitter circuit pic??? :) You can see on the receiver circuit in the first picture, in the foreground, between the microchip and the blobs of solder, circular impressions in the board. This is where the board was drilled to cut tracks. If you look closely you can see the intact tracks betw...

Re: Alarm,immobiliser key fob ??

Please tell more. I've heard it involves soldering then guessing but never seen or heard of any how-to. I would probably get annoyed with IR myself and replace it with RF but the info might be useful to other members here. Hi Katar The background information required is that all transmitter circuit...

Re: Alarm,immobiliser key fob ??

My IR system was not working when I bought my car due to the remote being missing and I had to remove the receiver to match the replacement transmitter to my car. When I removed my receiver I found it also had a corroded pin, which was so bad, it had broken off. (Maybe that's why the previous owner ...

Re: Major PITA! Help needed

That sump repair came out neatly. Just goes to show these things can be repaired. It's a shame they didn't put the same amount of skill into the oil change and avoid it all in the first place. I'm planning to do a front subframe restoration soon so the safety advice on here is useful. Don't Jag expl...

Re: XJ40 road test

Not sure if this video has been posted on here before. It's made by the BBC and was shown on the eve of the XJ40 launch. It describes the background to the introduction of the XJ40. It has interviews with Egan, the development, testing and some company history. Very interesting stuff. Apparently, ac...

Re: New front wings - in fibreglass!

We have the answer to one question then now. What would wings cost to make new out of steel? The answer, £950, each! They labelled those wings "rare" so no doubt there's a lot of profit included in that price. I'm sure if/when some fibreglass competition emerges those wings will come down...

Re: XJ40 road test

As a 70's kid I came from a time when "it was the driver that counts". With a lot of TV media now centres on what the car does rather than the driver, probably ignited by the way Clarkson portrays cars. I've also been in "normal" cars with good drivers and noticed they're capabl...

Re: XJ40 road test

And would you believe that an XJ40 can drift as well as an M3? Looks pretty standard to me, so no excuses!...

(Jump to 2:05s for the XJ40 footage. There's some at the start too.)
