Why oh why did they not offer a factory manual HE? Those would be the most valued examples now if they existed.

One more step in the right direction: custom-made Goodridge braided/Teflon coated clutch hose to replace the old'un.
It's of course another part that is NLA at Jaguar, this uprated alternative set me back no more than a few tenners!

 It's a Jag, Naki, so it will not be cheap anyhow... ;)

This was probably the only old part in the conversion kit, all others have either been overhauled or were brand new items.
Operating a brand new clutch plate with brand new cylinders through a ~30-year-old hose didn't feel like the most sensible thing to do. ;)

And given the overall price tag of the SP conversion kit another 40 Euros or so didn't hurt that much...

To put things into proportion: that's just about 1/4 of a full tank of petrol over here...

Almost, almost, almost there...

The mechanical side of the conversion has finished without further surprises, and with all gearbox, clutch & pedal parts in place the interior refit has started.
One tiny bump in the road: one of the reverse light switch connectors gave up during the electronics chapter of the conversion...

Simply Performance came to the rescue: they will be couriering over a brand new part so we don't have to go down the botching route.

This is going to be quite a beast.

Are we likely to see it this side of the channel at some point?

A Brands Hatch track day sounds appropriate.

That's the plan, Chris...

Plan is to say hello to the people at Simply Performance, attend a car event or two and visit some friends when the car's done.
Realistically speaking that won't be until next year, though!

There's also the minor little chore of turning THIS into a house:
