Another workshop visit yesterday: progress is impressive!
And for now it's mainly good news: no big surprises in the rust department!
the rust repair below the LH windscreen edge was smaller than expected, only several square cms of new steel needed.
The only other rust spot found was a pin-sized piece in the LH door skin, that repair hardly deserved to be be called a weld.
Only the rear windscreen area and boot lid are left on the on the paint removal to do list.
We know there's at least one more welding candidate there: the RH lower windscreen/buttress edge.
A combination of long-term UV light exposure and Jaguar 1980s paint 'quality' called for drastic measures though...
The workshop owner was not happy with the factory paint condition on the vertical surfaces, so decided to go the thorough route: bare metal!
I'll check in late next week, can't wait to see this project progressing!
