My

'My other car is a ____'

sticker reads '95 Suzuki Baleno sedan auto.
Sport mode on the gearbox - stainless window trim, remote boot release...

Non - Japanese cars are banned in my household (even though XJ40s outnumber them). It's 90's Toyota and Suzuki here. I never owned / drove a British car I liked (apart from a fragile Land Rover) [or that didn't break all the time].
You can accuse the Japs of making bland cars but they are competently designed, anonymous and thrive on neglect / abuse.

...so I obviously meant to acquire an LS400 - but never did, since IMO the true rival to the XJ40 is / was the (even more ahead of it's time) gracious, spacious Citroen CX. The only thing it lacked really was the pacious.

I would step over many LS400s for a viable CX.

You can accuse the Germans of making bland cars too - also cramped, unreliable and frequently (but not always) driven by 'look at me' w*nkers.

Or a usual suspect German daily driver is still a popular choice.

Red Rover in daily use this week- a good thing she has a tilt and slide sunroof- one up on the forty - even if it is manual.

Much easier to park too...

An amazing 34mpg as well!

That is probably because anything over 50mph is a bit of a strain for the old girl

Very comfortable though - lots of noise over bumps but not much "bump"!

I am hoping to take her to Cowley on Sunday for Drive it Day

Took her up to Cowley, she can just about keep up with modern traffic ;)
Tilt and slide sunroof is a blessing, lack of air con isn't!

Much more nimble than a forty and a lot easier to park, boot is massive.
Much better as a daily- probably because I don't mind the thought of a few more nicks and dings.
The 40 is just special :D
