Postby Simont485 » Sun Jan 14, 2018 2:01 pm

HI All

Just been to see the XJ12 which is in storage.

Was told of an unusual XJS they had in for a service.

Here it is.

So it is a Paul Banham Conversion...not seen many to be honest nor do I know much about them!

This one is a 3.6 manual.

There was one on eBay last year(?), just in poorer condition, I thought it was a one off, clearly not the case. Unusual car, although I much prefer the normal version(square :) ) :D

Early mondeo rear lights make it look like a kit car. Not a very pretty one either :?

Vauxhall Corsa headlamps?

If I remember rightly, the panels are riveted/attached over the XJS body. The result ended up being really heavy and the whole car rocks noticeably when one of the doors is opened. The original price tag was stupidly high for something that imho is so visually "challenging".

In no way meaning to hurt anyones feelings... Looks like an XK8 gone wrong to me but still it must be a rare beast with plenty of road presence especially nowadays. I prefer the "original" hands down.
