Boot light

Postby Jaguarxj40 » Fri Sep 28, 2018 11:05 pm

Can anyone tell me what makes the boot light come on.

Is there some sort of switch that turns the light on an off as you open and shut the boot :?:

I can't see how this works, am I missing something really simple. :D

Not sure if your model is the same but on my '93 there's a little switch that activates when the lid is open and closed up in the right corner by the hinge , it is a bit hidden from view and not apparent unless you're looking for it ,

Thanks Derek,

Found it exactly where you said. I would never have found that hidden up under the deck panel. :?

These switches can have poor contacts as part of the spare connector can get surprised. Or broken wires. They are a simple switch device though, so am sure you can sort it.

Hi Naki,

Yes this switch looks like damp many moons ago has got to it, I'm going to strip it out and have a look.

I'm hoping it's not a loom issue, the boot is a second hand one that I fitted and have fitted all my original parts to it and have re threaded the wiring in through to the rear of the boot and all other functions work fine, central locking and number plate lights.
