ANTI LOCK and Teves PUMP question!

Postby swallow_che » Fri Nov 23, 2018 2:41 am

Hi, as my XJ40 has ANTI LOCK light on the dash constantly from the start.
and it very sometimes goes off..

At this point I figured only one thing that the Teves ABS pump keeps running as well (never stops..)
or very sometimes pump stops running then that time ANTI LOCK light goes off as well..
But, this happens rarely..

Don't know exact reason why the pump is running all the time..

Is this because of Pump leak somewhere? or ABS Relay problem?

From your symptoms, there's a pretty good chance your brake accumulator sphere has lost pressure. Fairly common with these aging cars.

I don't think they're still available from Jaguar (maybe they are?) but fortunately the much cheaper GM part #25676065 which was fitted to the Cadillac Seville and Deville models from 1998-2003 is still available. It's a direct replacement, apparently same pressure rating, thread, physical size etc.

You may have to source this from the States - they run about $90 (£70) so even with shipping, it's not a bad deal.

Good luck with it

Thank you, for reply!

But the accumulator is brand new..
Might be faulse part?

Or other thing is causing this?

has the system been bled correctly since the fitting of the new sphere ?

as this would cause your problems as well

Didn’t bleed after new sphere..

Is this too late? Or it will solve the problem if bleed?

I'm not saying whether it will solve the problem, but, to be honest, it's worth a try ..................... ;)

I wonder if this is the multi function pressure switch mounted by the sphere, these are known to fail, and cause all sorts of issues

I thought that the anti-lock light would more often mean a failure in the ABS system, such as a fault in the ABS modulator power-on self-test or a fault in the ABS ECU or wheel sensors / wiring? The modulator runs a test when the ignition is switched on which is audible if you listen near it and the ecu is in the boot behind the trim on the LHS - worth a check of the connector and relay seating.

Replaced the ABS ecu but.. the light is still on.

BUT good news is Blink test worked on new abs ecu

So, I found the code. is 27 (Outlet valve rear).

Brake Pressure Warning light sometimes flashes too

anyone can tell what to fix?

Changed the Brake Fluid recently and mechanic told me rear hose was stuck and fluid wouldn't come out
He said he solved this
But looks like it's still related?

Is this why the Teves Pump Never Stops Pumping.
(new accumulator but pump just keeps running all the time)
Maybe because of block rear hose make low pressure?

This causes ABS light and Pump to work all the time?
Just my guess..
