Mine has gone in one corner only, but will need similar work as your parcel shelf, Naki...
Yes, I think this is the way that these leather dash/ parcel shelf’s are heading.
The Parcel shelf will come out of course, and the Centre section can come away from the base.
Where is leather dash master Gary when he’s needed?
I'm still here .
I've been looking at your predicament and I'm not familiar with the make up of the rear parcel shelf. I'm right in thinking that it's a two peice item, main parcel shelf carrier with the leather insert that has bowed.
Normally we would expect something like this happening with water ingress damaging the substrate then distorting when it dries out but as we have not had any rain for some time we have to put it down to the heat we are currently experiencing but looking at yours it's not a total loss.
The leather may be dried out a bit but it could be salvageable, you would obviously need to take the shelf out and disassemble it to get the insert out and carefully strip the leather off and make a new backing out of similar material, probably hardboard, leather can be forgiving and could be stretched gently to refit by using a little heat as this will make the leather subtle while you work with it as your recovering, a hair dryer will do the job by gently applying heat as you work with it.
As for how it's fitted in the car I think it has metal clips underneath, another option is you cold sandwich it between two suitable large items and leave for a few days.
Without it in front of me and not getting a feeling for the leather and how dry or subtle it is, it's difficult to exactly advise the best option.
If you take it out, some more detailed pictures would be good.
I'm happy to help and advise.
