The car was registered in March 1994. However, I know it was actually built in 1993 - not sure when.
I'm at work now - so can't double check its exact build date.

Believe that's why it has the early features such as the glove box instead of an airbag etc.

I think quads would suit your car....

And a mesh grill.

The 8J lattices look good. Very difficult to find them in good condition with the original finish.

Yes, if I go all the way with quads and a mesh grill - it really will be on the way to becoming a DD6 Sport!

Half tempted - but think I'll concentrate on keeping it on the road for now.
Time to enjoy it after all the work that's gone into getting it this far.

Hopefully the sun will shine on the 9th December for the breakfast meet at the 1066.

It’s all about VIN range rather than the date of registration on the roads.
This car is a 1993 model year spec, despite the 1994 registration date (making it a late registered car). Note the glovebox rather than passenger air bag, also the orange cube wing repeaters rather than flat rectangular repeaters.
The X300 wishbones didn’t get introduced until VIN 696460.

I have a feeling the auto dimming Mirrors May not have been introduced until the 1994MY? Though I could be wrong. It’s just all I have seen fitted on 40s, have been 94MY, not 93? I could be wrong though?

Great to see the car out on the road anyhow.
This is what it’s all about. You have to drive it and enjoy it, to keep the enthusiasm to keep fixing it.

Fishtanks- have a look at this link.

Or I have one very good one available currently (no corrosion/ all good fixings) If you prefer.
I think it’s the NS.

Naki , yes, my point exactly , and fully agree,
some pre 94 features on a 94 registered car, which made me think, did Daimler cars get pulled off the line then have bespoke interiors and then released for registration do you think ?
didn't all daimlers have the deep wooden glovebox, even in the passenger airbag era ?
it all makes the car even more interesting ( more so than my 3.2s , lol )

Re.passenger air bags.....

In 1993 they we listed as a no extra cost option.....but in 1994 it was a legal requirement to have them fitted.

So a 93my car may have a passenger side air bag instead of a glove box but a 94my will never have a glove box.

Interesting. Is that from the brochure then? I seem to remember maybe the US spec cars had a passenger air bag in 93?
Though I have never seen one spec’d Like that in the UK.

I'm surprised by that. Are you sure the brochure wasn't a 1994 model year brochure published in 1993? - The 94MY XJ40 came out part way through 1993, as was Jaguar practice at the time.
I have always believed the passenger's airbag was introduced with the 1994 model year changes (the ones with the rectangular X300 style side indicators) since IIRC there were some minor modifications made to the bulkhead to accommodate the airbag, and the airbag won't fit the 1993 cars like mine. I only have brochures for the October 1992 introduction of the '93 model year, and the February 1993 introduction of the 1993.25 model year - neither offered a passenger's airbag option. Was there a later one inbetween the Feb launch of the 'full 1993 with the new sixlights and plastic D-pillar finishers and the introduction of the 1994 model year?

Am I sure......well now you mention it....no not 100%....

I have bought many XJ brouchures trying to get the one for my XJ12. I beleive in one of them I had I read that the Passeneger Air bag was a no cost option on 93my cars. But the one 93my brocuhure ( XJ12 93/1E) I still have, as you say David, makes no reference to passnger side airbags.....I stand corrected, happily so.

The 1994 brouchures show/list both the XJ and XJS with twin airbags
