Hi all,
Well I have gone and added to the collection.

I hadn't really intended to, but an old friend of a DD6 recently became available. The old girl isn't in the best shape and doesn't have an MOT, but I had to step in as I was afraid it was going to end up broken for parts.

It's such a rare car and 40's need saving!

It is going to need plenty of work to bring it back, but there is no rush and I'm just happy to save another 40 from the brink before its lost forever.

Anyway, a few pics to tantalize.......(taken last year before it was taken off the road)

No doubt I will be posting for help, advice and parts regulary!

The car is currently having a new alternator, welding underneath and odds and sods to try and get through an MOT next week.

Fingers crossed!

More updates to follow.

Looks pretty good to me from those pictures.

I hope the suspension and air-con isn't shot like mine.

Good to see another DD6 gracing this forum :D

Congratulations Richard! I am glad it’s gone to a proper enthusiast, as am sure a Keith is too! He’s been trying to sell it for a while too. I guess once the price came down (a lot!), it’s become more viable now? I think you got a reasonable deal, based on limited information.
I suspect though it will be back at Keith’s again before long, having work done? It will be almost like he never sold it at all!

Thanks Naki. Yes, it probably will spend some time back in it’s spot at Keith’s! It’ll be having the front foot wells, sills and jacking posts welded up this week - as they are totally rotten. Plus an alternator.

The car hasn’t run since last October - so this’ll be a fun week to see what’s going on with it! Despite it being sat around for a while - Keith has looked after it, so hopefully it won’t be too bad! I’m just glad I’m away with work so I can bury my head in the sand whilst he cracks on!

The deal was good enough for me to save it - including the work to get it through an MOT. The recent eBay sale fell through (what a surprise!), so I stepped in instead once I sorted out some storage for now

I’m looking long term at the work - so I won’t be rushing anything. It’s a case of sorting the worst and stabilising the rest for now.

I’m looking forwards to some V12 motoring soon. Hopefully!

That is a beautiful car. I love the silver paintwork and dark timber interior.

Ah ha, it’s the good old looks good on the outside trick I’m afraid!

Like yours, the A/C doesn’t work and the suspension will need attention soon.

I’ll get round to them in time. Just need an MOT as the priority right now.

But yes, it’s nice to have another DD6 around. Looking at the cracking progress you have made with yours - I’m sure I’ll be asking a question here and there!

The car lives!!

Spent the afternoon in Eastbourne taking a look at the old girl and coming up with the priorities list.

The good news is that the big V12 fired straight up and idled nicely.

As an added bonus, the A/C system was charged, and worked! Which was amazing. Slight leak from a connection near the bottom of the condenser - but I'm sure a new o-ring will sort that out.

Overall, its looking quite good (under all the muck).

Will definitely need welding to the floors, sills and jacking points. Plus a new sunroof and work to the roof - as there's serious rot up there.

Couple that with a couple of new tyres, a massive valet inside and out, and a working radio - and we are in business!

Quite exciting now. Looking forwards to some fun motoring.

Working A/C - jealous :D

You'll be telling everybody your Daimler Double Six inlet manifold badges are pristine next

Glad you are making progress though.
