How is the diff mounted to the front tie? Could you take some pics and post here? I have some play in there, diff is moving back and forwards a little bit with the car on the ground and its not moving on the rear bushes at it suppose to.

Also, have you sourced a monoframe instead of individual diff struts? :) Looks like would be a well worth upgrade and would make sense to fit it now you have it all out.

Hey Katar, I think I've understood your question and hope this picture helps, I'm currently waiting for my ferry to go home so only have my reference pictures on my phone.

I had wanted to upgrade the rear suspension to the later x300 spec. My reason for not going though with it was the thought that in years to come we will have a lot of preserved vehicles that are all totally different from their original spec. My own car is different in many way to it's original spec, but having cleaned up the original components I feel like they are worth putting back into the car. I do like the idea of the rear brace and there is no question of if I get another 40 project, but when!

Many thanks, that's exactly what I needed :)

Just for future reference, when/if you get to it:

Good luck removing wishbone bolts, much easier to free them when they are still attached to the car but generally, try to turn the wishbones up and down first(with the diff and an extra person holding in on the ground) if they are stuck, once freed, they will come out with the rust wire brushed. No other way to remove them really :)
Naki, will have rear x300 wishbone setup if you ever decide on upgrading the rear end, it's definitely well worth it, even if like I said, just replacing diff struts with monobrace. Car is much more stable when cornering.

7 hour round trip to collect it this morning from Glasgow, still an infuriating amount of tourist traffic on the run back home

Anyway I did have a smile at the Series 4 label, Nigel Thorley informs me that was often a term used in America. Anyway a trial fit of the screen shows it to be bang on, and the fitter will be summoned up in the next couple of weeks. Move out date now 9th of December, time is indeed ticking to have the car movable

Unfortunately not Naki, when ever I found one in stock it would either be the later x300 or NLA, the one that jaguar now lists has the sunstrip across the top that costs about 400. This is from a company in Leeds and cost about 250 afaik, equivalent to BEC1011.

A lesson to be learned there, when the screen came out of the car I was preoccupied with the welding and so on but should have bought the heated screen while jag still had them. Too busy farting about getting the wiring loom and controls sourced for the screen as I remember :x . Anyway as I say, the car is going to be used on fine days only and certainly just in the summer. The heated screen would have been a nice addition but I'll manage without :P
