j_r wrote:HI All,

Ive been talking to Graham Searle (JEC) and we (XJ40.com) have been invited to attend XJ 50th Celebrations at Wroxall Abbey 29th June to 1st July 2018.

Having a chat with Rob we should be able to have our own stand at the event :D

Being such a large event and centrally location I suggest we make this our main 2018 event.

More details to follow

Cheers

John

Wroxall, Warwickshire, CV35 7NB, United Kingdom (between COVENTRY and BIRMINGHAM)

Sounds good to me. Its a 3 day event too, so we should consider scope for over night stays/ pub/ evening get together.

What a place, check out the on site Hotel.

Quite fancy this - look forward to further details John.

They can keep the dancers....... and agree that digs need to be sorted.

Like the idea of the Club stand, and I have a decent sized green gazebo to offer up, but I would be very interested to see the 'lay of the land' with the rest of the event to see what is proposed before christening this as our "Main Meet".

The beauty about Dunkeld was that it was '40 focused' and all those attending were there for the car. I can see this one getting too encompassing of the XJ from beginning to end. Most likely a very good event to attend as a Club - but I still feel we should hold our own Main Meet.

Just my view folks.................

I totally agree with carl regarding holding our own club meet as well as the JEC Wroxall Abbey event , if it is anything like last years Cosford club meet arranged by Don & Dave we will have to many cars to stick on the club stand so the majority of our cars will be stuck out on the field & will split our club up . Sorry for the rant , but that's how I feel .

That's a perfect idea, the spirit of the event

Carl is absolutely right BUT the JEC eastern day where we had a display together was fantastic as well
For me it's a lot more interesting and nicer to have a meeting with the best Jags = our models

I will save this date

But for another main meeting I would come to your island again because I missed this year

I think as always it’s hard to find an event, time, location, style, that suits all members requirements.
There’s no problem doing as many events as members wish to attend/ organise.

Earlier back in the thread there are other suggestions too. So there is scope for multiple events if someone would like to organise them.
Of course Don has been very active with events orangising in recent years. It will be interesting to hear what plans he has for next year.

Not that interesting, I have nothing planned at the moment.
I will of course be only too happy to arrange further meetings for my Northern brethren ( if they will let me :D ) but these will be local tried and trusted meets within easy reach of our regular attendees.
The National meet is another matter. I enjoyed the Cosford challenge and the day itself was fantastic, tainted only very slightly by the fact that we did not quite reach the magic 20 car mark. However I will not be able to arrange any National meets this year so it would be nice if someone else grasped the nettle as it were.

Just a suggestion, and I am completely open to being shot down for this, but how about the Coventry Transport Museum?

You guys did what looked to be a great meet there a few years back, it's a central location and there is stuff to do. Maybe even a drive to the new Jaguar Classics workshops? I know the tours are only Mon-Thurs, but there maybe a possibility of doing something at the weekend? Or there is the British Motor Museum in Gaydon?

Added to the calendar.
I may well be out of action this summer due to a planned but undated knee operation, or otherwise I would get more involved.
