That’s the problem Don, too heavy footed!

But driving fast on the motorway is easily done in these.

Fantastic illustrated write-up, Dave!!!
Am unsurpriseding we share some interests beyond '40s, looking at your pics... ;)

I've learned a few lessons for the next time:
1 - take the Missus with me: she would've loved most of that weekend!
2 - don't go for the lazy fly-in option and bring a car (saves me doing jury duty, too! ;))
3 - make up my mind on which car to bring...
4 - take the 'proper camera' with me: could hardly see the @#$#%* phone screen in the bright sun
5 - bring sun lotion
6 - apply sun lotion BEFORE turning lobster-coloured first (my calves are still Signal Red)
7 - try to arrive earlier on the event day
8 - depending on Saturday night's company: rule 7 does not apply...

After Naki got his hands dirty on Carl's car (hope you two have made it back home OK!!!) we cleaned Naki's A/C drain tubes on the hotel car park. I think the asphalt illustrates why that was a good idea... ;)

Could you tell me how you did this? :D

Easy job...

Fold back (it's held by a steel strip in the footwell) the carpet that covers the side of the center console/transmission tunnel.
Do this on both sides.

Also remove the floorwell carpets and insulation rubber mats: you don't want those to get wet!

Fumble around a bit and you will find two black rubber 'elbows'.
These are on the side of the transmission tunnel, roughly a few inches toward the bulkhead, as seen from the dashboard edge.
These elbows are connected by a small piece (7cms, 3") of plastic hose.
Gently pull the hose from the elbows and use some sturdy but flexible (installation wire does the trick) to remove whatever is clogging up those elbows.

Had a look at mine and even after a good few miles of rolling roadblock [ twice , once each way on the M1 ] i still managed 27.9 which i'm more than happy with as i wasn't thinking of economy while driving ,

Did anyone else notice the dig at XJ40 owners by Nigel Thorley.
