Rob was bang on, I was in the bar with Letitia, ordering 2 pints of fresh orange and Lemonade as we were absolutely parched and throats were sore from talking to both lovely people and people who just wanted a grumble. I can’t hear what NT said I’ve been in a busy atmosphere all day and now on a train so will have to wait till I get home.

I have just found another video, much shorter than the one I have posted earlier this day.

But for me as non-participant very interesting to “attend” the meeting like this (the interesting part starts at 06:30)

Right, not long home, in the nice peace and quiet of the house and have listened the conversation between Nigel and Rob about my car, and from what I can make out on the bit people have been discussing about me being in the bar/XJ40 owners etc, the bit that was hard to make out was him saying to Rob “why are you not in there with him”.

I can answer why Rob wasn’t in the bar....because he works bloody hard! The man didn’t stop all day. Same goes for Letitia, James, Graham etc, great people who worked non stop. 12 months in the making that was! Troopers!

Well I certainly enjoyed the day. I love hot weather, so that coupled with all of our fantastic 40’s and seeing the 40.com attendees made it perfect. Only one regret from me was that I didn’t see you all very much, the day went in a flash and was trying to get around quite a lot of people I’ve met over the past few years, the racing drivers, David Marks great speech in the courtyard, some new people from the different JEC forums I’ve not met before etc, so was just trying to cram it all in. There was also some complaint taking, as you know, not everyone is happy, but what I did notice was that each time I came back I came back over to you lot, it was the same old story, a very familiar group who were great to be around. Missed most of the awards ceremony but I was there for one award that I really was proud of, Russ and his car! Well deserved, was very happy to be there for that!

Such a shame I missed it!
But still cannot really walk and the car journey wouldn't have been much fun. :(

So jealous! Until next time!

I had a good chat with the new owner of your old 40 Tony. Naturally, asking me to scrutinise it. ;)
It really is rather excellent, so well done. It was good to finally see it after all these years.

To answer your question? Well, you haven’t stopped looking at them ever since selling your other old one. So that shows you still have a strong interest. And you still post on here now, more than you ever did when you owned a 40!
I think the answer is clear. Though will you ever bring it to a meet? Based on past conversations, I presume not? Which will always be a shame when you own a rarity.

Well thank you indeed for the comments surrounding my previous XJ40. I'm somewhat taken aback that the car comes across so well. On a purely personal note I was never really that happy with it. Granted its provenance and absolute rarity, maybe without those elements, I might have not made the original purchase.

My interest in the "40" remains as strong as ever given (in my humble opinion) that they are a very very good car. The fact they carry the Jaguar badge is not so important. The fact remains in my perception, that the XJ40 is a cracking automobile. Maybe I have more time to "post" now ? Certainly my "Germanic" transport seems a lot easier to satisfy, when it comes to "spannering" .... Oh and the parts are a fair bit easier to source too if you "box clever ...".

I'm a tad puzzled ... naki_k are you suggesting that without the desire to "show" a car, I'm perhaps an unsuitable candidate to own a "40" in the future :?:

Your old car looked superb Tony, in fact it was probably the best looking car in the line up, the new owner is a lucky man.
We remember your attendance at Claremont when your car again stole the show, although it was 117 that got second in class that day ;)
