Very sad to be doing this but I am putting my 1994 4.0S up for sale. I have been using as a daily driver for the last year, and a very good year of driving it has been too but I feel using the car every day is just wearing the old girl and I don't want to run it into the ground. I'm doing more miles than I used to and need to reduce the amount of time tinkering/ doing jobs on my cars. Sadly I have no space to keep it as a Sunday car.
Good (but not perfect) original car. 130,000 on the clock. Quite good spec for one of these (cruise control, A/C although currently not working) In the last year I have...
Fitted two new front tyres.
Upper rad mount bushes.
Usual oil change and service, changed auto box oil.
New steering rack and high pressure hoses + track rod ends (XJR plastic spacers fitted to steering bushes - made the steering much sharper)
New VEE mounts.
New (genuine Jaguar) rear discs and pads.
New front Pads (Genuine jaguar disks included with sale)
Key fob works and all locks changed (when i bought the car the door locks used a different Key to ignition)
New boot struts.
Ripped drivers seat replaced with good 2nd hand (leather on this seat could do with repair I started doing this on the passenger seat so I will throw the Kit in with the sale.)
Throttle body has been cleaned.
Brake fluid replaced and flushed through.
Some welding has been carried out to rear wheel arch.
Loads of spares thrown in including (xj6 gold grille, new front discs (genuine jaguar), Under bonnet lights, spare Brake booster pump and sphere, Brand new set of rosewood door cappings, Anti roll bar bushes and drop links. Lower rad mount bushes. Perfect condition rear chrome bumper blade. Loads of other assorted spares)
Now all cars of this age have a few problems and this is no different...
First of all just recently the fuse light on the dash has been on and off. I believe this is a sign that there may be some dry joints in the fusebox, I have not had a chance to do this yet.
Engine smokes on start up - Usual XJ40 stem seals worn.
Passenger side rear door has obviously had a scrape in the past. Its been like it as long as i've had the car. Not too terrible and paint not badly affected.
Seems fairly rust free underneath, Been welded before in engine bay, front wheelarch, rear wheelarch and underneath floor corners. Not beautiful work but the rot does seem to have been cut out. I suspect that more rust could be found if you really tore into the car, under front wings etc, but then this is a xj40. Bulkhead seems solid.
Spare wheel is different type of alloy.
Alloy wheels could do with a refurb.
Paintwork looks great polished up but has defects here and there. Lacquer is peeling on drivers door and on boot. Still isolated at the moment)
Headlining needs doing
A/C needs work although have fitted brand new Condensor there is still a small leak somewhere
price is £1500 I want quick sale, hoping to sell to an enthusiast car is too good to break. (will do a good deal for anyone on here or JEC member) Car comes with all the spares mentioned above.
