Hi Pim,

thats what I thought as well. The description tactile finisher sounds exotic. Sure its not tail finisher?
If you have just bought a car, you should really never immediately look on the web. 200 Km away from me I found that:

If you take the leaper and the silly stickers off it looks like a decent car. If the guy would have advertised a week earlier...

Last bill from 2000? ...sounds like a car with much, really, really much work to do. Some small rustblisters ... sounds like weld- and paintwork to do. If yours is really rustfree and with recent maintenance bills it's probably the better buy.

As a bulkhead fetishist I would really like to see a pic of your center bulkhead - I have never seen one with rustfree bulkhead and more than 100K km on the odo.

Strange thing after being away for a couple of days and changing the non working antenna. Radio goes on but does not read the code when I type it in. It just reads „code“ no reaction when I do anything accept switching it on or off. Has anybody had this issue?

Hi panarabica, yes I have experienced this. Different cause though as the interior of my car and boot had got damp. It used to seemingly lock up the radio code input. I kept trying occasionally and one day I accidentally left the radio on but codeless for about an hour, and lo and behold it went in. I have a dehumidifier in the car now, but if I have to disconnect the battery it still takes a few seconds to a minute to allow the code input. If I remember rightly if you put a wrong code in it still beeps and the stars become dashes on the display on a fully working system. I have also had my cd changer do a similar trick which cured itself by bringing the unit inside the house for a week.
My car is outside continuously, unfortunately so damp is always a problem for me given the nature of our vehicles.

Strange it is. There are just dashes in the display, the car has been on the charger and the boot is dry. I will leave the radio on next time I go for a drive and will see what happens
However I am thinking of changing to a more modern Alpine unit with bluetooth, hands free and all the other gimicks that make life nice. I do like the classic look, but I cannot even feed a bluetooth signal to the original unit!

On a more scary note, I was driving yesterday and a deer crossed the road making me go into a full stop. Reaction of the front brakes was top, but the back felt like it was dancing with strange ABS shudders. No clue wether I need new tires or wether the rear suspension is shot. The car makes absolutely no funny noises when driving or braking.

The owner of the gunmetall gray DD6 of the advert called me yesterday. He had a whole lot of strange people around with limited language skills making low offers. There seem to be 3-4 rust spots on the car but nothing structural except on the driver side front wing. But who knows what exactley is under that wing?
Engine must be running smooth, the car was apparently never run in the winters by the previous owner who is known. Downer is that there is no service book and only a couple of old receipts that dont really tell a lot about how the car was serviced.

At 4.500€ I still think its reasonably priced for someone looking. A new MOT is supplied with the car. I however have decided to stay with my French DD6.

.. I am progressing with the Daimler. I have given the engine bay a rough clean and have investigated into bulkhead issues. Still havent found anything, so I took yesterday the wiper housing of. Again no rot to be found. Slowly I am starting to think that I may be lucky with this car.
The cruise control bellow unit was removed when the ignition coils were changed, and has vanished. I managed to source a part that allegedly is used for the XJ 81. But how and where do I have to fit it? Is it the correct part no.? Can someone supply a picture of this part mounted?

Congratulations with your unsuccessful rust-finding expedition! ;)

panarabica wrote:...how and where do I have to fit it? Is it the correct part no.?

Apparently (caused by engine bay temperatures??) disconnecting CC on V12s was quite common: one of the nylon bushes wears out, worst-case keeping the throttle body stuck in 'open' when it fails...
Your part number is correct, the bellows is identical for 6 and 12 cylinder vehicles: https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/uk/part/DBC3867
For the V12s it is located in the heart of the engine 'vee', hidden below the plastic engine cover on your pics.
