Not quite all ............ https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-Daiml ... SwtjBdU-2u ;) I've some experience with these and vehicles of this profession. The spec' sometimes can be most bewildering ... Do you recall the "armour plated" 40 some while ago - Didn't that have fabric upholstery too :?:

I was referring to the XJ40 based conversions.

Fair enough. It just struck me as a little odd to mention all ..... From my experience, the spec' can simply "down" to which boxes get ticked and maybe to some extent who signs the job "off" and attaches the same signature to the payment, often for a Hearse and two Limousines (cost) ... ;)

In the past cloth was considered more plush than leather, as is still the case in Japan. Pre-war Rolls Royce and Daimler limousines often had leather for the driver and cloth for the aristocratic/plutocratic passengers. Possibly a hangover from this practice?

Well, it has to be said that its seemingly easier to look after and yes, I'll tend to go along with the idea its more "luxurious" ... Lets not get controversial and suggest the animal might prefer to "own" the alternative longer ........................ :o

You’re right Naki. XJ40 Hearse and 6 door funeral spec cars were Daimler by name but not Daimler by spec and carried a different style of VIN.

Isn’t it baffling though, how they badge it a Daimler, yet fit XJ6 spec half cloth sets? Not even full leather. What were they thinking?

I think, in the first place, naki_k was puzzled that the car had been supplied with cloth trim in the first place ?

Whilst this fresh nugget now, supplies the answer .... And I for one, am enlightened ;)

As an "aside" would I be correct in thinking "Daimler" has been simply a badge within Jaguar, anyway, since decades ago and now disappeared completely :?:

Does anyone here knows anything about this car?

Looks nice and apparently isn't a rust bucket.
