after my engine works, i decided to try and setup the idle as per the prescribed method, it would not however drop below 1000 rpm ,

so , as is my nature i took it apart and found this

yes, a PO has completely rendered this adjusting screw from the idle body completely useless , and i am in need of a new one,

as they are not separately available as a part, i need to buy a used one, a whole body might be better as this has probably mullered the internal surface as well

any used ones out there, i only need the casting and this screw, my stepper motor is fine

Looks like I have one Vince, if you can't get one locally I can send it over :)

The one I have is fine BUT the head of one of the mounting screws for the stepper snapped when I took it off the parts car so you'd need to extract the remainder from the body. On the bright side, it came from my 94 parts car that only had 69,000 miles on it.

Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak too, that's usually the main culprit of high idle.

How about heating it up and then straightening it? Might be quickest way to sort it out?
While in there set the butterfly gap and TPS to operate correctly at ~0.6V when closed to as close to 5V as possible at WOT, that normally makes the biggest difference ;)
