Fibre glass Wings/ body panels

Postby naki_k » Tue Oct 28, 2014 4:01 am

i didn't know anyone was making these until i just saw this listing.

i see they have priced at them around what jag used to sell the genuine items at.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XJ40-L ... 3f3f8c6a19

still its a good idea to at least have this option, rather than no wings!

no more rusty front wings? but what about cracks :?

i have never owned a fibre glass car (excluding the robin reliant we had for a short while when i was a wee lad). anyone who has, what was it like in real life to live with?

ok good to know. i have heard of the XJS fibre panels, but interesting to know someone now does 40 wings. they must see a good business case to warrant making them. will be interesting to know how many they sell?
has anyone reading this actually fitted any on a 40?

I'm pretty sure I saw a bonnet too for a 40 once. I imagine it will be a lot of weight off the car with two of these and a bonnet so a quicker and more economical car. I also have rear qurters for XJS from them, they are great and look very solid!

Naki, I wouldn't mind both wings, bonnet and quarters. Nothing else really. They are not really structural panels, the rest of the car is heavy and solid enough. 40 are way to heavy, imagine full aluminum or fiber 40 it would be a rocket and would be way more economical.

Having totalled a Scimitar a few years ago I can honestly say that I would never use fibreglass wings or any other panel come to think of it. Awful stuff to make a car car out of?
