The insurance on FVC has just ended, and Lancaster advised me that my car wasn't of interest to them to renew unless I paid triple the price, which is more than what I paid for the car, so they were swiftly told to jog on!!!!

I tried Adrian Flux last year and they were not competitive.

So, does anyone have any up to date tips? Is Peter James still people's favourite?

I need to insure FVC which is a 94 M, the DD6 which is a 93 L (no, still not got it before you ask....... ), the Series 3 which is an 87 D, and ideally the X-Type however that will probably be too new being an 02 02, so am not really bothered.

When I tried Peter James that Julie lady had left, and Footman James were still by a margin the cheapest. Will check exactly what I pay but I've got 6 Jags covered for about £280ish including my 2004 350R...

Agree. For s multiplicity, Footman james have been head and shoulders above anyone else for me. But remember, there is no best insurer. It's different for everyone. Just have to try them all and see what works for your individual circumstances.

This is true, car insurance is a minefield, and a complete con, but I will do my usual calling around.

Where I was failing before was that I wasn't looking for multi car as I bought the cars at different points, where now they have all oddly aligned so can now use this feature, and I'm glad, as individually they will cost a little fortune coupled with road tax etc.

You can add vehicles to the policy during the year, so that's not an issue anyway. I started off with just a policy for the Daimler Six, then it switched to a multi-car mid year, with vehicles being added as needed. As mentioned before for one of the cars I added the additional cost for the remaining 5 months of the policy was 59p!

I now have a Jaguar multi-car policy and a multi/classic policy that has some other non-Jag stuff on it too. I find it's great value - my modern cars cost me about £1700 for five!

I'm just starting my digging around, I started with footman James, they are closed on Sunday's so I tried an online quote, they only quote for Single cars online so I did it on FVC, fully comp, 3,000 miles per year, and the cost for the year, £96.00!!!!! I'm gobsmacked. Lancaster relieved me of about £170 last year. Going to try the rest now, but I will be calling FJ tomorrow when they open to see if they can multicar me

Insurance renewed, and I am very happy.

Insurance for the Double Six, the S, the Series 3 and the X-Type - £248.00 fully comp and a max mileage of 5,000 miles! I am very happy with that. Got it through Footman James. Tried Peter James but they wouldn't do it because I'm 29 and they are strict on only taking people 30 and over, so maybe next year.

Good work. Great value isn't it. Unfortunately it means one of the usual barriers to adding to the collection drops away - almost zero additional insurance cost!
