I just wanted to do a quick write up about a Specialist I visited at the weekend.
Whist down South last weekend seeing some of the gang at the meeting at Bodelwyddan, I decided to get the Majestic finally looked at for its constant throwing up of the "Fuel 44" warning and check engine warning.
Since Specialists are extremely sparse up here in Scotland, and my usual Specialist is getting on my nerves and has lost my future business, I decided to make use of one of the two Specialists in Liverpool, since it was very conveniently near where my family stay.
I decided to visit Jagautos, not just for its proximity to my nans, but also because I have had dealings with the other Specialist, who cant be named on here as he has a habit of taking customers to court at the drop of the hat and considers any negative feedback as a personal attack.
I had spoken to Jagautos a couple of times over the phone over the past few years and each time they were extremely professional and polite and left a very positive impression with me.
After seeing Don on Sunday, I visited Jagautos (without a booking) on the Monday. Even though I didn't have an appointment and they were very busy (a good sign - they had everything from Series 3, XJS, S-Type, X-Type etc), the staff, especially the owner Martin, couldn't have done more to be accommodating and booked me in for the following day, even though it probably wasn't convenient at all for them.
I took the car in and left it with them and they gave my car a thorough going over, did tests, made a couple of adjustments, extensive road test and at the end of it all, the price for the hours they spent on it was fantastic, (there was nothing wrong with anything relating to the Fuel 44 warning thankfully so that was cleared off the system). I brought the car home and in the 5 hours in the rubbish weather, the car didn't miss a beat and for once the light didn't come on and there has been no warnings. On picking the car up, a lot of time was spent with me going over things they highlighted during their checks, such as my brake relay clicking (need to get another one of those), and they generally just had good chat.
They don't really see XJ40's anymore, but Martin the owner has an extensive history working on them and all other Jaguar's and Daimlers since he started working with Jaguar in 1983 as an apprentice. He still does a lot of work for Jaguar as a contractor at shows and new product launches.
So if you are in the Liverpool area and have not just an XJ40 but any kind of Jaguar or Daimler, give Martin and his guys a try. They are currently based at;
0151 298 2685
however they have just secured newer and much larger premises just along the road and will very soon be moving. I don't have the details as yet but they will keeping their phone number (which goes directly to Martin's mobile out of hours).
