I've ordered a couple of times through JCP and the bits turned up fine at the local dealer, but last time i did nothing at all. The parts guy was really rude to me in all honesty so ive stopped using them for now.

So it seems they are having a communication breakdown at some point along the way occasionally.
Various XJ40's and one X300.

Well, ordered yesterday and arrived this morning cannot ask for much more :D Parts guy mentioned that they had received an e-mail from JCP yesterday (one week from placing an order on line) asking them to order the part for me. Moral is ring your local, hopefully, friendly parts man first.

I have been collecting parts from my local dealer for many years. The dealer I go to (Royle's in Wilmslow, who also supplied the car new) seem to be quite geared up for parts through JCP, and perhaps surprisingly, still seem to know/understand which part will fit by model year. They seem to service quite a few old cars there. I have seen other XJ40s, Series III XJ6s, XJ-S and even a 1 owner Series II Daimler 4.2 which had done no more than 50,000 miles and was serviced twice a year from new, by its now elderly owner. It was totally original and close to concours. Beautiful!

Reply from james Dobson today.

"The best approach to the dealers is being discussed. Ideally we want more of our customers to go through the dealers so we are looking into the best way of developing a relationship with them."

another reply from JCP.

After speaking to a concerned parts manager about the status of JCP's website, I would like to clarify a few things. Jaguar Classic are committed to their website and this will always be this facility to our customer. My comment about having customers go to the dealers was not meant that the website was completely bypassed, but for more customers to place orders through the website for collection from their local dealers to develop a better relationship with their local dealers and to take advantage of the free delivery service.

Here at Jaguar Land Rover we have a "Customer First" strategy. If you or any of the forum members have any concerns, please feel free to contact me.

anyone who has experienced difficulty when ordering through the JCP site, should contact James Dobson directly. especially relating to specific dealers.
