New site from JCP.

Postby naki_k » Fri Aug 09, 2019 11:35 am

JCP- It’s all changed, as of yesterday!
I spent the last 10 years mastering the old site, so back to square one.

You will need to register a new account as far as I can see. Old passwords don’t work/ resetting password has not worked. It’s quick to set up again though in fairness.

Clearly they want to integrate more of the LR, into the site.

Totally sucks and in my opinion a waste of time. None of the old links work.

Thankfully I have JEPC installed, so I won't be using JCP any longer.

Too bad though, was a great resource before.

'Mobile first' design, but done by a computer illiterate 12-year old?
And that's the optimist in me...

All I can hope is that they didn't pay too much for their web site 'upgrade'....

Their hyperlink structure is pathetic, THIS is the link to front suspension, a random string of numbers, mainly: //parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/C01.918.91857.91857281.918572817916/brand/jaguar/

Well as these things often are, new fangled, progressive, keeping somebody in their job and last but not least, entirely useless. What utter tosh. There was nothing wrong with the previous format, surely they could have integrated into that?!

After the rigmarole of ordering my last lot of bits I am reverting to the olde telephone, speaking directly to somebody who really does believe that parts are still available for my car and that I am not on the wind up. Seeming my local dealer has also fallen in with the daft mob and now operates directly arse first and certainly outwith JCP, and will deny all knowledge of such an organisation. I cant help but think they are plotting against the humble upkeep of aging models, as we should all be queing up for one of those electric things with the Jag badge.

Trouble ahead chaps, start hoarding cars now!

Phew, rant over!

I can’t comment about the technical composition of the site, but I do know whenever something changes, it can take a while to get used to it.
I dare say in two months time, no one will even remember what the old site when looked like?

Though all the links on this forum giving parts info are now redundant, so that’s a problem for anyone trying to get help from the archive, on here.

I was only using the old site on Wednesday!

Took me a few mins to find the XJ40 section (good start...)

I’m not surprised it changed, as the old version didn’t look very advanced, but it was much more intuitive. It’s easy enough to find the part you want, but it doesn’t do as good a job of showing all previous/compatible part numbers like the old site.

Also on a mobile, too much light colours. For those of us with lacking eyesight, the lack of contrast makes using the site quite slow!

Didn’t notice that! That was the only incentive for me to order from JCP, as their postage for smaller items is usually still quite steep. I usually confirm the part number on JCP and order from elsewhere if I don’t want to collect.

Didn't Jaguar Classic Parts (JCP) start out as part of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust at Browns Lane?

A small group not linked to Jaguar directly but had the last of the line cars and unusual ones etc......and moved to Gaydon when Brown's lane closed. They didn't seem to have much ability to get unavailable parts re-manufactured in my view. I remember having to go through the JDHT website to get to the parts section. Now though on the JHT (its dropped the D) site there is no mention of Parts.

So a few years ago Jagaur Classic was created. This is part of JLR group at the old Peugoet site in Coventry and they restores any Jaguar or Land Rover and gets parts made for them......at a price of course!

It looks like the Parts business is now part of Jaguar Classic as opposed to the JDHT.

I hope this means the parts we all want to see made again do actually start appearing now the JLR are running it!!
