JAG89 and Friends

JAG89 went on an outing with friends. We joined up with members of the Bay of Plenty Jag club and visited the Southwards Car Museum, then up the road for night in Wanganui.

Quite a wet weekend. Discovered wet carpets in the boot afterwards. Aerial rubber is perished, so that might be one of the culprits.

it certainly is the season for it. only one xj40 though? do know of any other 40's in the country, or ever seen any driving about? am guessing even rarer in your country than that are fast disappearing from ours?

I'm thinking that the XJ40 may not be as rare here as they are in the UK. One advantage we have is that our roads don't get salted, so rust I don't believe is as bad as you have.

I'm also thinking that the real issue is that they are still considered an aquired taste. The Series 3 and X300 shapes seem to be more popular.

Having said that, there's only 17 listed on our local auction site at the moment:

I am amazed that there are as many XJ40s for sale as that in New Zeeland. It is interesting to see in your photos how much Jaguars have grown in size. The XJ40, X300 and particularly the XJ-S are all dwarfed by the later XJ Jaguars there. Even the S-Type is a wider and much taller car.

Good pictures of a well attended meet. Jag89 stands well amongst them all. :)

That's a nice family photo! Smart they are. Your XJR looks great in the bunch. One of the more distinguished members for sure. Nice car! ;)

I got a grommet last week, went to figure out how to fit it, but found the connector between the aerial and the main drive has failed. I the catalogue doesn't have a seperate part number for the connector, so still need to figure out what I'm going to do.

Lots of aerials on eBay but MAKE SURE (if you go down that route) that you get one with exactly the same connectors AND ensure it's from a 40 as later ones do not work!! :geek:
