Test post from my Android phone running firefox ..as you can see, no problem, seems to me that the issue isn't the ability of the forum to accept uploads from the phone but folks not being able to cut and paste using the phone?

Next I'll try the same thing with chrome.

Sorry to hear the image upload is such a bugbear for most people. The problem is that there isn't enough space on the forum's server for all our pictures, so the images are hosted elsewhere. Because of that, it's not possible to upload an image and for it to automatically appear in your post, because the upload function and the text editor are two separate elements.

However, what I have done is to add a button called "Copy Link", this copies the IMG tag to your clipboard once you have uploaded your image. This way you won't have to try and somehow select the text yourself, which I appreciate is very fiddly on a small screen. So when you've uploaded an image, simply click the "Copy Link" button. Then paste in the text editor and your link will appear (on most mobiles you do this by pressing in the text editor for a few seconds, then select paste in the pop-up menu).

I understand it's still not ideal, but may make the process a little easier. The alternative is to expand the capacity of our server or move to another provider where we have enough capacity to store the images - although both options will likely increase the forum's running cost. I think when comparing the forum to the likes of Facebook or other such services it's important to remember that the forum is (almost) advert free and entirely funded by donations, whereas the social media giants fund their operations by monetizing the personal data of their users.

It’s a good idea Roel, and a step in the right direction. Unfortunately it’s not working on IOS Safari/ Chrome (iphone 7).
I am downloading Firefox now to try it.....

It’s clear the forum server has never had since self host images, from day one.
If we could get ball park figures on how much it would actually cost to have server space large enough to host all the forum images from here on, then we have the information to make informed decisions where to go from here.
(Which will then lead us to questions and answers on how to fund future improvements of all kinds).

I very rarely come on here now sadly, due to the hot topic of uploading pics from mobile, being a youngun I don't own a "desktop" computer, haha. Facebook is great I think personally as there is alot of great jag groups, and I think naki will agree with me here, that you can sell alot of parts on there, I have only ever sold a handful of parts on here sadly. I found that I use this forum briefly in the warmer months to see what shows I am attending with the usual northern riff raff.

Not working on Firefox either. So it’s clearly an IOS issue. (V 12.1.2)

Happy New Year all

Good to see some activity here. I agree on most that has been stated.

Forum vs forum as I see it:
Searching works on the forum. It simply does not work on FB, so all info is lost within short time.
Members here know a lot and does not tell much BS. And if they do, somebody corrects them. There are many enthusiastic and seemingly knowing people on FB, and it is for sure not all crap info that gets corrected...
Facebook has much more activity and is thereby good entertainment. Loads of post is plain entertainment and not questions. We sometimes do the same here...
Photo integration works on FB. Here it is possible, if you are on a PC or android. I write this on my iPad, and this post started as a test of the new ‘copy link’ button, which would be just fine, if it worked on iPad/iPhone. I’m sorry to say that it does not...

Regarding the new introduce yourself section: wouldn’t it make sense if all active members (and not just the new) made a little intro. First post could work as a template, so I will leave that to somebody else
