Thank you for your feedback everyone.

The show is on between 8th and 10th November. We have a stand on Hall 8, on which we are displaying 4 cars.

Henry's (Showman89) XJ6
Chris's (Find the river) XJR
Matt's (MattXJ40) 4.0s
and my Sovereign

Every year the show organisers declare a theme for the show. The theme of the show this year is Top Trumps. So we are showing 4 cars, all 4 litre variants, but of differing specifications.

To go with this theme we are also adding a plethora of 90s tat, sorry, I mean fashion and accessories to add to the display.

Hopefully it will make a good stand and will then pave the way for a regular XJ40.com stand every year.

In addition to this, we could. ook at doing the restoration show in March for the works in progress and finished cars.

As always, if anyone has questions, or want the discount code, please send me a PM.

All the best.

Yep

Bear in mind this is the second thread on this, some of us have responded on the other thread!

I am trying to be there, it’s a bit early to guarantee attendance, but I do go along usually and I’d like to make the effort for ‘40.com

I will certainly do my best to be there, as I've said previously! I usually go on the Friday every year, as long as no work crops up!

I went to this on Saturday and I have to say the Show in general felt disjointed and more biased to trade stands than ever before imo.

But...

What an excellent job XJ40.com lads did. Four very well presented cars, complete with period accessories and sales men

Had a chat with Daztap whilst I was there, apologies to other forum members on the stand (who I didn’t recognise, Henry?), but every time I was about to chat to them they were attacked by members of the public admiring the cars!

Excellent job lads, looked well organised, nice cars that represented the model and club very well!

Let’s hope we get invited back!
Regards, Carl

Well said Carl! I had the pleasure of being there yesterday. Now that you mention it, I did think at the time how many stalls there were, but with this being my first time at that show I didn't know if that was the norm.

But, the highlight was the 4 XJ40's. I was there for the full day but the public were so engaged the guys were kept busy and even The Stig couldn't stay away, he was straight in to Darren's car. I knew the cars would get attention, but people were flocking to them, asking questions, looking over all 4 cars with genuine interest, and in such a massive venue with such a diverse range of cars, it was some achievement. I even liked that they were not in the Main halls where it just felt like a complete orgy of everything, there seemed to be a lot more structure and calm where they were and people were just taking it all in at their own pace. Very proud for them! Well Done!

Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated. It was really good to see people from here and meet so many people who have either got a 40 tucked away or have thought about getting one. Hearing peoples' stories is always one of my favourite take aways from this show.

We pulled this together on a shoestring, each buying props from eBay and the like. We washed the cars at a local petrol station in the pouring rain, which even brought people over to talk about the cars. Henry put a couple of info. boards together which was good.
Compared to all of the other clubs, with no branding or marketing, we were clearly the amateur new boys. However, as mentioned, we had a constant stream of people on the stand for all three days.

When the Stig got in my car it drew a thick crowd of people. Some thought Henry and me were traders, selling the cars, due to our dodgy suits. When I explained that we were recreating the 90s with the suits and props people were very complimentary.

One of the highlights of the weekend was when a guy stopped because he recognised Henry's car. He sold it to the first owner in 1989. This was confirmed when Henry pulled out the service pack and found his business card!

I have already contacted the organisers to express our interest in the 2020 show. More information will follow....
