Postby Brake buster » Wed Oct 23, 2019 4:01 pm

so , after the major engine works, and a few other bits and bobs, she has been off the road for 3 months,

and after insuring her today ( for £134 fully comp !!!) she was taken to the MOT station for an MOT early tomorrow morning, im working shift and will be asleep ( hopefully ) during the process ,

so wish her luck

Good luck! You won’t need it though, she’s a good ‘un and she’ll pass!

thanks

so , after some faffing around, and the tester not being able to find the side lights switch ( dont ask.......) for which he failed the side lights and numberplate lights, and then failing both rear wheel bearings without the correct rear suspension testing method which detects drive shaft end float which is mistaken for wheel bearing wear , i now have a pass

but hold on,

while starting the car to prove the side lights , the thing decided to bounce the locks and lock me out of a running car !!!

20 mins of it ticking over my wife brings the spare key........stern looks and a tut....lesson learned....

upshot is, full MOT , clean bill of health and a compliment on how nice the car is

Ditto, mine went in today and had got through. This is my 15 consecutive one. Not bad for a car that nearly 32 years young

I have the app’Know Your Car’. It has sent me a message advising me of the Pass even before the garage rings me. Better still, no advisories??
The app is free and shows when Tax and MOT is due. Plus MOT history and mileage history and more. Which is helpful if you have several cars. I also monitor my daughters car using it

This makes 0 sense to me  Even with 'incorrect testing method', there shouldn't be enough play to fail it if bearings are fine. That said, if they couldn't find a light switch, I doubt I'd ever wanted to go back there

Front bearings are a classic for me, MOT muggles often put play in front bearings as advisory on all the Jags I own/owned.
