I just checked the VCD and it shows "FAIL".

It should have a number before the word "FAIL" ... Then you can look the fault up here ..... http://www.jagweb.com/aj6eng/fault_codes.php ;)

If it only says fail, with no numbers, that means the brake pressure is low. Normally the pump will start building up pressure as soon as the key is turned. If it does not, that may be a separate/ unrelated issue.

Tomorrow the injectors will be cleaned ultrasonically.

That's a good thing to hear! I was going crazy looking for the "invisible" code number at the screen, as NMV 1E suggested.

I take note of that.

Very good news... After cleaning the injectors ultrasonically the car has started at the first attempt. At last I could hear the sound of the AJ6!

Now I have to give fresh blood to the XJR: new spark plugs, filters, oil, fluids... I would appreciate recommendations for specific products, particularly hydraulic fluid.

At first sight, only 2 problems:
- Dashboard shows ANTI LOCK with the engine running (Brake fluid far exceeds the maximum allowed. Maybe related? Tomorrow I'll depress the brake and I'll investigate further).
- Some noise, coming from cylinder head. I guess a valve... tac tac tac tac tac

Well done. Great result.
The injectors make a ticking noise as standard. Is that the noise you mean?

The anti lock light may not go out until you start driving?

If there’s too much brake fluid, you can suck it out with a syringe? Or maybe it’s worth flushing through all new fluid anyhow, if you don’t know the age of the existing fluid?

Anti lock will probably go away if you get it to over 30mph. If not, it will be one of the wheel sensors that might just need cleaning.

Re spark plugs, filters, oil, fluids, again best to get a Haynes first, all service details will be there.

I have a problem with the brake hydraulic system bleeding. I've replaced the brake fluid but the rear right screw doesn't bleed. I've disassembled and thoroughly cleaned the brake caliper and the bleed screw because the brake fluid does reach the immediately previous pipe/hose but... it hasn't worked either... (Of course, I've done it with the help of a friend pumping the brake).

What am I doing wrong?

Here two images of my XJR. It still cannot circulate legally.

I have to do this from the top of my head (no access to my archive here), but doesn't the OEM procedure involve having the ignition key on, to activate the brake pump?
