Looking to dip my toes back in

Postby sovereign-dave » Sun Jan 13, 2019 11:54 am

I am looking to purchase another late model XJ40. 1993 / 1994. I have up to £2000 cash here to spend. I cant seem to find anything worth buying. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

I've been "looking" to purchase another 40 since realiasing I'd gone from three, to zero, (none) in a very short space of time. From what I can tell at 2k (£££'s) the decade between now and then means the "bargains" have gone, the World has turned a few more times and the bandwagon has rolled on, with optimistic asking prices. That's not to say some cars aren't worth (that's up to the buyer) 5k plus .... My personal standpoint is that I don't need 6 plus cylinders to propel my motoring enjoyment these days ... There is a 40 out there in ebay land I could buy today, bring it home and get all "emotional" over its custodianship ... Sadly it'd be a total waste of money, as it would likely sit for months on end with all the problems that causes ... Waiting for a car "show" ... :)

This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roxqTOAor0I on the other hand looks good fun :?:

This seller did report a running issue previously. It’s worth checking the current status?
So there may be room for negotiation down to your budget?

The poor quality pictures, of a dirty car, certainly do not it any favours. But there may be a diamond in the rough? As usual the only way tot find out is to view. Its too much to expect any idea of the cars condition from the advert of course.

"This car has no rust issues. Its in great condition. 12 MONTHS MOT. Service history"- if these statements are to be believed, it may be worth a look. for £1500, before negations, compared to the None MOT'd cars on offer at similar prices?

If it has no rust issues at all and as stated then surely that's an excellent price?
