A technical question here, when the garage removed the cracked sump and reinstalled a new one would they have disconnected the power steering? Reason I ask is that the steering wheel is a few degrees out of true, when it is lined straight up with the road the front wheels tend to bear right. I know I can fix myself this by removal of the steering wheel, but I don’t like to push my luck with the boom bag again. If it is not too much of a job I could have them do this when they replace the water pump.

You don't move the steering wheel if it was straight but get it centered by moving track rod ends. Ask them to do wheel alignment as they had the rack off probably hence it's off now. You should do it anyway after removing subframe.

What a joy to see this on your garage floor after being placed under my motor for a whole month. Oil drip tray immaculate and completely free of any sign of leaks / drips whatsoever. It is so good to have had her cracked sump fixed by a mechanic who obviously knew what he was doing and not those numbnuts from the “Jaguar” garage. She is in the same garage again for a water pump change, fan belt change, radiator fan temperature sensor change to see if this fixes the problem with the fans continuing to run after being switched off. If not I will need to strip the DBC 11617 out and attempt an overhaul.

P.S. Like the new way to post pictures and not have to involve third party photo hosting sites.

Nice!

Confirmation it will be in good hands for its cooling system overhaul...

That water pump almost has more DHL mileage than your car, I guess?

She came back from the shop today, I had asked them to change the cooling water temperature sensor (DBC 10013), the water pump, the two fan belts and the cooling fan relay (DBC 11617). All went well the water pump had a wee squeak (fixed that, thanks to Pim), the belts changed (wasn’t necessary, but what the hell), the DBC 11617 changed out but eventually wasn’t necessary either (so I kept it as a spare) the failure was the DBC 10013 it had just frozen (I think metal fatigue in the bi-metal strips) and it just kept the fans running. Anyway all is functioning perfectly well at the moment, I had a quick test run up the coast luckily avoiding multiple foreign kamikazes en route and she purred like a kitten all the way.
I will take the DBC 10013 to pieces when the weather has cooled down a wee bit, it is safe to leave my pool and I have finally gotten over the shock of having an idiot Trump lookalike as PM and pulled myself together enough to take a peek and see what it looks like inside.

Not only the parts shed, but the Indonesian offerings were more than welcome, I owe you many Paellas for that.
