I also run 225/60/16's (on Aero alloys) without any issues - on my second set of all-season Kumho Ecsta Platinums, 98W rated - excellent tires.

I drive in rain, snow and summer conditions.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. The Dunlops on at the moment do have a squared look which I think suits the look of the 40, accenting the way the body curves from window down to sills. Also it’s nice to have two British brands together. My two XJS’s both came with Pirellis which were good also, I’ve never tried Michelin before. And I think I will stick to the recommended size. Are there any other tyre brands which have an “aggressive” looking tyre a bit like the Dunlops?
So what I’ve ascertained from the advice given is that you get what you pay for.
