AJ6/16 vs AJ26

I have to say after owning two Range Rover Classic 3.9 V8’s, I’m a little scared of any V8 engine. I’m also a relatively new XJ40 owner and have had nothing but great experiences with this and the two XJ-S’s I’ve had in the past and the AJ6 engine in general. I’ve read all about Nikasil bores and a pal of mine reluctantly had to get rid of his Daimler V8 (X308?) after years of problems. Has anyone run/owned both cars? Is there a great deal of difference?
I’d be interested in opinions :)

Majority of X308 I've ever seen had either engine or gearbox issues but that's mainly from years of neglect in the past. People generally just dont service well ,cars that cost £2k at most where visit to a dealer can cost half the value of the car. Of course there are good examples and well cared x308 will run better than a 40 with its ancient AJ6 but it seems its a rather rare situation these days. I wouldn't worry much about Nikasil issues, I'd say majority of cars that are still around most likely had this sorted.
